砂金矿，它区别于岩金矿的大不同就是，砂金矿中的金，都是以单体金的形态存在，由于金是单体解离的，所以，可以以水为介质，通过高压水的强力冲洗及分级筛筛分，再根据金的比重较大的特点，去除泥浆及轻沙，这样就把重沙回收回来了，金就包含在其中，然后再通过手工摇盘或者摇床进一步精选，就淘洗出金粒了。
砂金设备重要的一步是去除矿体中的粘土，因为，粘土如果处理不干净，在筛分过程中就会造成跑矿，所以，粘土的处理是砂金设备工艺中重要的一环，只要粘土问题解决了，在根据金的粒度大小，选用合理的金子富集设备，这样就能把金子高回收率的回收回来。
